GRF Building & Plastering Ltd recently completed a full external render replacement at a residential property on Middleton Avenue, Hove. The existing sand and cement render had blown away from the substrate across the entire front elevation, leaving the property exposed and in need of urgent attention. Our team of experienced plasterers carried out a full hack-off, removing all failed render back to the brickwork before thoroughly preparing the surface for a fresh application.
Once the substrate was ready, we applied a new traditional sand and cement render to the front elevation, bringing it to a high-quality flat finish throughout. The completed render was then decorated white, leaving the property looking clean, sharp, and fully weatherproofed. This is exactly the kind of external plastering and rendering work GRF Building & Plastering Ltd carries out day in, day out across Hove, Brighton, and the wider East Sussex area — built to last and finished to the highest standard.

Look out for large cracks, hollow-sounding patches when you tap the wall, render that's pulling away from the brickwork, or damp patches appearing on internal walls. If the damage is widespread rather than just a small area, a full replacement is usually the best option. We're happy to come and assess your property across Brighton, Hove and the surrounding Sussex area.
It depends on the size of the property and the extent of the work. A full front elevation like the one we completed on Middleton Avenue in Hove typically takes around one to two weeks, including stripping the old render, preparing the brickwork, and applying the new finish.
We primarily use traditional sand and cement render, which is durable, long-lasting, and well-suited to properties across Sussex. We can advise on the best option for your property based on its age, condition, and your preferences.
Every property is different, so we provide individual quotes based on the size of the area, the condition of the existing render, and the finish required. Get in touch and we'll arrange a visit to give you an honest, upfront quote.
For most exterior rendering work above ground floor level, yes. We arrange all scaffolding as part of the project so you don't need to worry about organising it separately.
We can absolutely render a single wall or elevation. Many of our customers in Brighton, Hove and Shoreham-by-Sea start with the front of the property for kerb appeal and then come back to us for the remaining walls later.
Water gets into the cracks, especially during winter when it freezes and expands, making the damage worse over time. This can lead to damp problems inside the property, mould growth, and eventually structural issues. The sooner it's addressed, the less it costs to fix.
We work across Brighton, Hove, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Lancing, Portslade, Southwick, Saltdean, and the wider Sussex area. If you're unsure, give us a call and we'll let you know.
